Welcome to Liberty Elementary

Liberty Elementary School is one of five elementary schools in the Duneland School Corporation. Liberty Elementary is located in Liberty Township in Chesterton, Indiana and is home to over 500 students in grades kindergarten through fourth grade.

Liberty Elementary School was built in 1971 as an open-concept school, and in 1993, partitions were added for self-contained classrooms. During the 2003 school year, the office area and the front foyer were remodeled to provide a secured entrance. In 2010, an early-learning center addition was completed. Included in the 25,000 sq. ft. addition are self-contained kindergarten and first grade classrooms, an art room and computer room. Several pull-out rooms and large-group instructional spaces are incorporated in the new addition.

Liberty is proud to have an outstanding media center with up-to-date technology. The school contains three computer labs, a gymnasium, and self-contained art and music rooms.  Special Education Services are provided through the Porter County Education Service Center.  Liberty has full-time teachers for students with Learning Disabilities and for students with Emotional Disabilities. Speech/language services and counseling services are available during the school day.  A registered nurse is on staff full-time.
